Saint-Diery, a local village

Built over an old lava flow between 600 and 800 meters altitude (1968 and 2624 ft.), the town of Saint-Diery reveals, throught numerous hamlets, a rich natural heritage.

Fairies’ chimney

During a walk, you could meet the unusual “Curled Lady”, an impressive vertical column made with clay soil, tailored by erosion and surmounted by a huge rock. It is a real natural curiosity: during volcanic eruptions, a mass can fall on a clay soil; erosion has diluted the clay but not the basalt rock. You have to see it!

And in the middle flows the Couze!

The river Couze Pavin crosses the town. Famous for its trout fario, you can easily come if you love fishing or calm areas.
And why don’t you fish in a fish farm? You can practice this fun fishing in the aquaculture of Moulin Neuf.

Sparkling water
Saint-Diery is also a mineral sparkling water appreciated since 125 years.

And also ferruginous water
Not very far away from the sparkling springs of the water factory, a trail near a stream allows you to discover the ferruginous spring of Pont-De-La-Chevre, easily recognizable for its smell and the rust color around the spring.

Rich past

Churches, castles, chapels, bread ovens, fountains, troughs, launderettes, calvaries: Saint-Diery’s market town offers a great natural and built heritage.
Siant-Diery’s castle is a feudal construction built at the end of 13th or during the 14th century next to a dungeon (private propriety).
