Randonnée le chemin des montagnes et des artistes_Mont-Dore
A beautiful family hike with views of the Sancy, the Haute Dordogne valley and the Pic du Capucin. You’ll also pass through the remarkable Capucin forest, with a stop near the funicular railway.

This hike is sheltered from both sun and bad weather, as most of it is undergrowth.
You’ll pass under the Capucin funicular, France’s oldest electric funicular, which celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2023. Built in 1898 and listed as a Monument Historique, the Capucin funicular embodies all the charm of the Belle Époque. From May to September, the funicular is open, allowing you to climb to an altitude of 1,245 meters at the Salon du Capucin for easy access to hiking trails, the Sylvatorium, the Mont-Dore Aventure park and the via ferrata at Le Capucin.
