Legend has it that the local inhabitants once called upon the divine power of the fairies who lived 945 metres above sea level on a small granite mound called the Roche des Fées. They begged them to provide them with good land and water. And after the wave of a magic wand, the Dordogne river made its way to them. It arrived miraculously from the depths of the earth, emerging just below the Roche des Fées as a spring, the Choussy Spring. The scene was set and the true history of La Bourboule could begin...
